A spacious office lounge area with large windows that allow abundant natural light. The ceiling has a grid layout with recessed lighting fixtures. The flooring is laid in a herringbone pattern, adding visual texture. Furniture includes a long wooden table with matching chairs and benches, as well as a grey sofa set arranged near a wall-mounted television. A minimalist wall clock and a leafy potted plant contribute to the clean, functional aesthetic.

After 15 years in their Reading office, Ridge and Partners made the move to Arlington Business Park to give their team a workplace that supported expansion, collaboration and a strong sense of identity.

Ridge, a built environment consultancy, had outgrown their Reading office and needed a space that could support future growth and bring their whole team together on one floor. Just down the road, Arlington Business Park offered the perfect fit – lakeside views, café facilities and a strong local business community.

Having worked with Ridge before, we were brought in to design and deliver a fit out that felt modern, social and distinctly theirs.

A tailored, timeless design

Ridge wanted a high quality, flexible layout centred around their brand. The design includes collaborative zones, phone pods and an impressive boardroom – all tied together with deep green tones, natural wood and textured finishes. Planters and natural colours add a relaxed feel without compromising focus.

From the welcoming entrance with lake views and a glowing Ridge sign, the space opens into open plan desks, breakout booths and meeting rooms. We relocated the breakout zone to reduce noise and keep the best views for working areas. The spacious kitchen doubles as a hub for town halls and team events.

To reduce waste, we reused much of the old office, including desks and meeting tables. The Cat A ceiling was retained and the boardroom's lights are made from recycled paper chosen to support circular design.

A smart and sociable workplace

With the whole of Ridge’s Reading team now together on one floor, it’s easier to collaborate, connect and work flexibly throughout the day. It’s modern and functional but also warm and welcoming – the kind of place people enjoy spending time in.
